Employment Opportunities

Find a job as an attendant through the Direct Funding (DF) Program

If you are an attendant looking for work, there are 2 options for you:

  1. You may find job postings from employers on this website
  2. You may find job postings OR add your name as an attendant looking for work to the Consumer Attendant Roster (CAR - link below).

Consumer Attendant Roster (CAR)

The online Consumer Attendant Roster (is currently under construction) is a free, interactive and participant driven web-based system operated by the Centre for Independent Living in Toronto (CILT Inc.). It helps to match job seeking attendants with consumer/employer job openings for attendants.

Consumers can post employment opportunities for attendants or browse the database of attendants seeking employment. Attendants can post their resumes / profiles on a database and search employment opportunities posted by consumers.

While there are jobs available with Direct Funding Self Managers, CAR is not exclusive to Direct Funding and you may find jobs advertised by agencies not related to this program.

To the consumers:

  • CILT strongly recommends you contact the references of the attendant; and interview the attendant before making any decisions.
  • CILT also recommends that a police check is performed before you hire someone to work for you.
  • Please be aware that CILT has not performed any screening of the attendants, nor are the attendants employed by CILT.
  • CILT does not recommend or endorse the attendants listed and is not liable for any problems which may result.
  • Payment is the responsibility shared by the consumer and the attendant.

To the attendants:

  • You will not be an employee of CILT.
  • Payment is the responsibility shared by the consumer and the attendant.
  • There is no guarantee of work - this is just a service.

For inquiries about the Consumer Attendant Roster, please contact the Attendant Services Application Center (ASAC) at 416 599 2458 or email asac.info@cilt.ca

"I used to view my disability as being in bed chained down at my shoulders and my hips, waiting for someone to free me. Well, I can honestly say that Direct Funding has come along and done that!"
